Faircroft

Faircroft is a new-build children’s home in Cobham, designed for Surrey County Council as part of their ongoing Looked After and Adopted Children (LAAC) programme to provide high-quality, supportive accommodation for young people in care. The project replaces an outdated facility with a contemporary, purpose-built home that offers a safe and nurturing environment for up to four residents, aged 12 – 17, along with 2 live in staff, essentially creating a small ‘family’ unit.

The design responds to its residential setting, with a domestic scale and material palette that reflect the character of the surrounding neighbourhood. The main building provides four en-suite bedrooms for children, two staff bedrooms, and generous shared living spaces, including a kitchen, dining room, lounge, and quiet/resource rooms. An adjoining Annex facility will provide emergency/temporary accommodation for residents who require rapid placement.

Faircroft is set within landscaped gardens, providing outdoor space for play, relaxation, and gardening activities.

The project supports Surrey County Council’s strategy to keep children close to their communities, providing a stable and positive home environment.
