Southern Grove
ArchitecturePLB have been working with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets on a number of projects to fulfil their pledge to deliver 1,000 new council homes in the next 4 years.
Southern Grove is a new housing project which will provide 78 homes for the local area. The development includes a new build 4 to 6 storey residential apartment block which will provide 42 affordable housing units. A former Victorian workhouse on the site will also be sensitively converted to create 36 private rent apartments.

The project has required a sensitive approach to maximize the site capacity for new housing whilst also respecting the urban context and surrounding historic buildings including the C19 workhouse.
ArchitecturePLB carried out extensive public consultation and allowed neighbours to input
into the process which subsequently led to them supporting the planning application.
The landscaping has been designed to work as both public realm and residential communal amenity, ensuring that security and privacy can be maintained for residents, while also providing an enjoyable place for the wider community.
