University of Southampton Science Park (USSP) Update!

Our team recently visited the Infinity Labs site to see the ongoing construction works being delivered by Amiri Construction. It was great to see the formwork and falsework cleared, revealing the exposed aggregate RC frame floor plates with their distinctive layer cake appearance. The cast-in-situ special finish RC walls are being prepared, with the structural framing system (SFS) progressing to the west elevation and first fix MEP works now underway. Roof steels and inverted roof works are advancing well, with completion anticipated soon.

The concrete frame has been completed on site, and both the structural framing and mechanical and electrical installations have commenced. The tower crane that has been a familiar sight on the skyline has now been dismantled, marking another milestone in the build programme.

As a flagship project at Southampton Science Park, Infinity Labs will provide state-of-the-art laboratory space to advance scientific discovery and support the growth of the South Central economy. ArchitecturePLB is working with Amiri Construction to bring the project through Stages 4-5, following Scott Brownrigg's Stage 3 design for USSP. The collaborative design team includes Calcinotto (SE/Civils), Accolade Building Services (ABS) Ltd (MEPH), Ubu Design Ltd (Landscape), with specialist sub-contractors Southern Structures Ltd (Groundworks/RC Frame), FIS Facades Ltd (Envelope), and ROOFLINE GROUP (hot melt inverted warm roof).

We look forward to continuing to support this important development and contributing to the future of innovation at Southampton Science Park.
